If you could set the rules for political campaigns, what would you do?

At the moment in Australia we are going to have the federal election on the weekend and we have had several weeks of back stabbing, muck raking, insulting, insincere friendliness, baby kissing etc. I could think of quite a few things that I would like to see 1) No lying 2) They can't do anything as part of an election campaign that they would not do normally, or at least have a history of doing. 3) No mud slinging, bagging the other party etc. 4) No annoying ads

The rules I would perhaps come up with are the following: 1. No cheating in any way, shape, or form; 2. No resorting to violence or intimidation of any kind; 3. No overspending; 4. Be truthful at all times; 5. Be issues-oriented; 6. Present a comprehensive and clear platform of government to the electorate; 7. Walk the walk and talk the talk of a true leader worthy of the office he/she is running for
