"We're floundering in a quagmire in Iraq. Our strategy is flawed, and it's too late to change it. Our resources have been squandered, our best people killed, we're hated by the natives and our reputation around the world is circling the drain. We must withdraw." This is what Osama bin Laden has been saying. Read the articleby Jack Kelly It's true: Iraq is a quagmire But the real story is not something you have heard Sunday, November 18, 2007 By Jack Kelly, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07322/834685-373.stm Once you have read the article ask yourself who has been lying to us and why. I think it is the leftist Anti American Press. President Bush has been telling us that we are winning in the war while the Press tells the world that we are defeated and a rag tag army can beat the best Army in the world. The press reports that the insurgents killed 19 American Troops in one weekend. Weeks later we learn that they were killed in a major attack on a training Camp for Homicial Bombers that were planning an attack on thousands of people on a religious pilgrimage. The US Army announces in January that they have releived the comander of Abu Gray Prison and are invesgating several soldiers for abusing prisoners. In April, during sweeps week, the media breaks this major story and bury the fact that the Army has been invesgating and has removed those responcible back in January. What other facts will be uncovered by people that the meida forget to report to us. It appears that the Democratics and the Left Media are more concerned that the US lose the war than in reporting the truth. A close friend ofmine is a Marine Officer and during the invasion of Iraq he was assigend to protect a reporter. Trying to engage him in conservation he explained to the reporter what was going to happen. The reporter told him his job was not to report the war but to report when the US soldiers goofed up or did something wrong. Nothing like reporting the truth.

"Why were we lied to?" This is a question I have often asked myself. Giving it some thought, and using my knowledge of military strategy and what I've learned of Muslim psychology, I have a hypothesis. Here it is. It was not that they were lying to the citizens of the USA, they were lying to radical Muslims around the world. Why? To lure them to Iraq. Especially, the most radical, violent and intelligent of them. In order to kill them. Mostly, we have. This sounds far fetched at first, so let me explain. This nation's top defense department officials, intelligence officals, and flag officers, the generals and admirals, are intelligent thoughtful, long term strategic planners in a manner 98% of the population can not even begin to understand or appreciate. These top leaders of the USA can and do conceive such plans as here hypothesized and do have the wherewithall to implement such a plan. How? It leaked out many years ago that the CIA does have a relationship with numerous news reporters, journalists, and editors. All that would need to be done is to plant a few stories and have the editors and other decision makers choose to run anti-American, anti-war stories in preference to others. This would have the effect of encouraging the rabid left in this country to speak out even louder. The resulting whining, bawling, defeatist drivel would be interpreted by the radical Muslims around the world as proof the Americans are weak, easy prey. Seeing the opportunity to participate in jihad, and to kill some weak stupid infidels, radical Muslims were drawn to Iraq like moths to a flame. Does this all still seem far fetched? Consider these things. First, the reporter your Marine officer friend protected. Where did the orders to do his job in the manner he told your friend come from? Why would such orders ever be given? Is there any way in which such orders could serve a useful purpose? Do you really think many American reporters would come up with the idea of reporting all the negative concerning Iraq in priority to the positive? That reporters have instructions to report the negative first, is an indicator I'm right. Second, ever notice how the US killed and wounded is reported often and loudly? Did you know Iraq insurgents are being killed in far greater numbers? Don't hear much about that do you? Why not? War is not as simple as most imagine.

Interesting. I agree that the Generals are very brilliant people and do think differently than the rest of us.

Well, this war is definately not for the people here in the US, and it is just to pad someone's pockets and if we do wrong to get them there, then they are better off. Even since I seen the movie Farenheit 911, it has made me loose Faith in the system right now, and sometimes I wonder how we will ever begin to take it back.

If the statement, "The reporter told him his job was not to report the war but to report when the US soldiers goofed up or did something wrong. Nothing like reporting the truth," is true, that reporter has no credibility, and you know that's coming from a liberal Democrat. However, I do think it's very unfair to accuse the Democrats or the media of wanting to "lose the war"! I can turn the tables on you and say these are talking points straight from right-wing talk radio and Fox News. I think the "truth" as well as most of the American people fall somewhere in the middle and I think we all need to get information from a variety of sources and come up with our own conclusions. I heard an interview with a retired General the other morning who was saying there has been success in Iraq recently which is being credited by some to the "surge" but that doesn't change the fact that this war was very poorly executed from the start and Bush had refused to listen to advice early on which would have brought these successes sooner rather than later. Please, can I find just ONE conservative Republican to admit that there have been some HUGE mistakes made by this Administration and there have been many things that have made it difficult for some of us to believe a word they say. Several months ago John McCain went to Iraq and his report made it sound like it was like a visit to your local shopping center but he chose not to mention the armed guards surrounding him and helicopters hovering above; at around the same time Joe Biden also visited Iraq and his report was totally different - stories of wading through raw sewage to get to your house, many without power or running water, being afraid to walk across the street - I can't remember all of the details now but the differences were astounding! Really, how do we know who or what to believe? You and the other conservatives swear nothing is true that is reported by the networks or any cable outlet other than Fox yet the conservative blogs and publications as well as talk radio and Fox reports only from the right's viewpoint. So, please tell me where to go...LOL! Annie

Fascinating. I at least remember the one about the January investigation. And as always I do agree the stateside media has been reporting things with a hope that the US loses (and at home that the economy goes to the crapper). With that, there is also two items on the media about this issue. One is to find the worse and report it. Two is to take things, cut them or spin them and make it look like the worse. Ain't it great? -_-

Y?ou forgot the third - if you can't find something bad or spin the news bad do like Dan Rather did and make up something that is bad.

Indeed I did Bob. Thanks for adding that! I must be getting rusty.
