How do you know when someone really likes you?

I remember back in the dating days. I would talk all day to my bf but at the same time I would still wonder if they really like or love me or just friends. Now I know my hubby loves me. But what if it is your neighbors. My friend (female) has a neighbor(male) who drops by her house pretty often. He would cut her grass for her and get knick knacks that she likes for her. Then one day he just stop getting her knick knacks and only drops by ever so often. She is wondering if he liked her before and if so what happen. she didn't say anything bad to him nor had any confrontations with him but everything seems to have just stopped. What should she do?
