how do you decorate your tree?

do you have a theme? do you just decorate it randomly with whatever you have? do you use all wood? all glass balls? what do you do? do you use only a couple of colours to decorate your tree? we used to do certain colours every year. one year it was red glass balls and red wood hearts (that i had made and painted) but the last couple of years, my daughters have wanted to decorate the tree and well, they just hodge podge it...which is alright, it still looks nice. what do you do?

I decorate my tree pretty plain. I put one set of colored lights (usually red or white) and then put some classic looking multiple color bulbs on it. I hate tacky and over cluddery trees. lol

I have a white tree with no needles and lots of white lights, and I like to do a theme. This year it will be paper origami birds. We always used everything we had when the kids were here, and I do that about every 5-6 years and have the tree at full height. I will remove a section this year and set it up on a coffee table... its less work, and just as effective!
