Twenty-one years ago there was a little show about a genius toy maker (turned out he'd also worked for the Pentagon!) his bodyguard and their housekeeper. The show was "The Wizard." It starred David Rappaport, Doug Barr, Fran Ryan & Roy Dotrice made occasional appearances as "Troyan," Simon's enemy. It was great fun that unfortunately didn't last long enough! The fact that the show has left so many good memories for so many people tells me that it was better than much of what's available today. Simon McKay (played by the late David Rappaport) encouraged people to use their imaginations (it's the best place to play) to be creative and believe in themselves. He didn't use guns, but like MacGyver, he found other more ingenius ways to resolve problems. It was a great show for kids because Simon didn't like to use violence. If you remember the show as fondly as we do, you are welcome to join us in our efforts to try to get the show released on DVD.
