Do your cats chase each other?

My cats do the funniest things. They like to chase each other around indoors. I've never seen the outdoor cats chase each other. And, if they do, it's always some type of real cat fight. But, the indoor cats take turns chasing each other and the cat games never end in violence. When my female cat was a baby, she could barely walk, and so our big cat would let her chase him around the apartment. It was the funniest sight. She couldn't run, just hop with her back legs. After a few weeks of hopping after him everywhere, like a bunny, she had built up enough leg strength that she could walk regular. I guess he did that on purpose. Sometimes I think cats are smarter than they are given credit. Now that we have a new kitten in the house, she does the same thing as well. She is always chasing the big cat around and pouncing on him. He is not at all happy with that. But, I think he's a big faker and likes being chased. Do your cats chase each other around? Do you think it's a game or for real? Why would an indoor cat need to chase another cat? They are not hunting. Is it just instinct?

I have 16 cats. One of them is always chasing someone. My house is like a zoo or a NASCAR racetrack more often than not.

Hi :) My 2 cats do this alot, around the house and up/down the stairs, haha. They are just playing like 2 kids would, kind of like tag.Its very good for them.My older cat gets chased by the young one alot and jumped on ,ear nipping for fun and then she hides for awhile and then its her turn to do the chasing, teasing and bugging.Sometimes our small dog gets it from both of them, haha! They tease her by hitting her tail jumping on her head then they all run around the house, the dog and the 2 cats with my daughter behind them like a train!Hahaha:) Peanutjar:)

I never have any cats in my house, so I really don;t know about cats behavior. My mother never allow us to bring cat or have cats as a pet, maybe because she think we could not take a good care of pets. I don;t know what's her reasons. I never ask her.

I have two cats. They don't usually chase each other. But they always fight. Everytime that they see each other, there is a fight. Sometimes they get scratches on their faces because of that. At least your cats just chase each other. Mine is a big problem they cannot be together.

we dont have cats in our home, because our mother is allergic to cats, and is suffering in asthma so no cat pets allowed. but our neighbors cats always chase each other and some stray cats go to our yard and its irritating because they always fight and i dont know what they are fighting for. maybe for food, or the ladies cats. i dont know. Hello dear beauty queen. You have nice cats. They are so cute and funny. I think that they are chasing each other for fun to enhance their relationship with each other. Maybe that is one of the ways that they communicate and have fun with each other. Thanks for your discussion.

Our cats are also doing the same. They would always play hide and seek during the night because their sleeping time is during the day. It is really funny when they would pounce each other and then ran around the house catching one another. You're right about cats being smarter than they are given credit. Our mother cat would always chase her kittens not just for fun but also for them to be flexible whenever they're hunting for their prey. It's some kind of training to put her kittens in the right shape to be able to catch their own food. I also noticed that cats dug some hole in the land first before having their poo and also covering it with sand afterwards. They're very clean than dogs and that's why I love cats very much. ..^^..cherry

Heck yes my two boys chase each other! They're nearly seven, obese, and go at it on a nightly basis. This usually happens after they are done grooming each other and makes me think of a couple of homophobes publicly declaring they are not gay. In reality I think it is part play and part instinct to try to keep their bodies in shape. Usually the dog does a fine job of refereeing the match though.
