Why is it that really good discussions have very little response. I have read some really good ones and am shocked that such discussions have hardly any response whereas ordinary discussions have a huge response. Does that mean we should write only day to day discussions and not something really worth reading ?

I think most members of mylot are averaged type of people or it is either they tend to respond to easier questions, since they prefer to think less while enjoying their free-time here. There's also those who miss some posts, because we all come from different countries and varied time differentials. I'm not pretty much sure, but we have diffferent interest from one another. A good topic for you maybe not for others, as it applies the other way around also..

Yes, it's exactly what you said in that first paragraph and to draw such a conclusion doesn't really take much effort towards thinking about it, to tell the truth, seeing as it is a site in which anyone can make money simply by posting something at least worthy, or just an "add-on" to a discussion. And yes, I've glanced upon a couple of topics which sounded appealing, but yet, there's very little or no contribution towards it which is simply because it's a thread whereas it requires one to think, and based on what I've seen so far, it's not what the majority (well, I would say) is really here for - only to "get the job done".

Agreed, but even an average type of person will want to read and respond to good discussions. It is not as if we are discussing nuclear physics. Somehow, it does feel bad to see good discussions going to waste. I suppose the time difference should not matter, because one can read it anytime.

hi ketybhagat.i must say that your point is correct.however i think you might also be understanding that different people have different interests.and furthermore people over here are of different nationls.generally people like to respond to the discussions in which they might have some experiences.probably your discussions seems to be very real and logical but people dont want to put their brains for that since everybody in this world has already lots to think aobut.furthermore this forum is more of stress reliver and fun.

I dont discuss nuclear physics here on mylot. They are just simple mind provoking discussions which when replied can clear a lot of doubts and even start a debate. I just cannot reply to discussions which have no relevance like which soap do you use. and the best part is, they come in todays top discussions. What People post are full of fun and yet worth thinking. Thats the best part of it.

well many members would like to answer to the easier ones first so that they can prepare for some serious ones. but many of us do not leave the easier ones soon enough! and well this is just a website and not a serious job for us. so it's according to ones wish as to what he wants to answer

If your purpose of staying here in mylot is to earn cents... then it is very easy to just create ordinary discussions that will garner ordinary responses... but if you are here to ask serious questions or get serious opinions... then be prepared to get only a few responses... but then with these few responses... i am sure that they are thought provoking and well thought of...

Thank you for your very nice reply. I appreciate it because I do get replies from other people who want to read good discussions online. Getting cents is one thing and getting good replies is another. Each one to his own.

Well my friend some of the discussions are piled under another discussions again and some people goes straight to the top ones and too lazy to pick good discussions.. who knows..

I also have that kind of feeling. I wonder whether it is because that people spend most of the time responsing their friends' discussions, thus having no time reading other discussions. or it is that different people have different tastes, and what we think is good topic they perhaps don't feel interested at all.or perhaps people are more willing to respose to easily-answered discussions. I don't know if these are the right reasons .

I suppose the friend part is more relevant. One just reads what their friends have written and leave out the rest. Sad but true. A topic is good, it is good.
