A condition i have been though, in my family may dad who just passed away on 7th of october. Not able to judge the seriousness of the disease, he would not care to keep the diabetic levels down leading to damage of nerves on his legs. Resulting in poor blood circulation in the legs, and finally death of tissue and amputation. I would advice families to atleast buy an glucometer to keep a check on the blood sugar.

In addition to that, I would also advise all those with diabetes to check your legs every night before you go to sleep and see whether you have any unexpected bruises or cuts because some diabetics don't feel anything when they have cuts and bruises, and this can lead to ulceration and untimately gangrene. Also, it would be wise to make an appointment with a podiatrist about 6 months once to make sure that your feet is well taken care of. A final word of advice, do not use caustic agents such as creams or ointment containing salicylic acid on your feet if you are a diabetic.
