Sometimes hiccup comes in a wrong time, and it's very bothering. What's your best way to get rid of it? As to me, I think drinking a lot of water can solve this problem.

I drink a cup of water non-stop until i feel a strange feeling that something is pushed down, and I feel better. Thankfully I don't have to drink very much water. this only works with water, no soda or juice. Those two or anyother will hurt going down without stop. also they don't stop the hiccup.

I don't drink water. I hold my breath for at least 20 seconds.

Bummer. I only know three remedies, a glass of water, holding your breath, and being scared out of them like having someone surprise you.

I used to drink water, hold my breath, do all sorts of home remedy gimmicks, and still took some time for them to stop. Then I read that hiccups is an irritation happening to the diaphragm, the muscle below your lungs and above your abdominal cavity that is the most important muscle in breathing. Now I never hiccup for more than 15 to 30 seconds now. I stop what I'm doing, and pay attention to my breath. I breathe slowly and deliberately, paying full attention to what I'm doing - breathing - and I do nothing and think of nothing else. For me that has always been the fastest way.

I do the same when I have hiccups, drinking water, but sometimes if I happen to be out, where no drinking water is available, I just use a very simple way by pressing the pulse to stop it. It helps as well.

i too think the best way to get rid of hiccups is to have lots of water. but some say that we rid of it when we get a sudden shock, like if some one scares us or something like that. dont no if it works. you can try it out.

I have found two things tend to help..one will if the other does not: Take a glass of water and drink without inhaling air..swallow without inhaling..this is number one..Secondly..is take a spoonful of sugar.

Wow it took reading all till the one before mine to find someone with my answer. My mom used to put a little bit of sugar on a teaspoon and then cover it with water. It worked every time. My sister used to ask to buy my hiccups for a penny and actually give me a penny and they'd go away. Sometime I can hold my breath and swallow as many times as I can while still holding my breath and that will work.

The best way of getting rid of hippcups and has always worked for me. You need two people to do this. Have someone hold your ears then you drink some water and at the same time hold your nose shut. So your doing all three at once. Try and drink as much as you can. It truely works.LOL

Ok here are some of the different ways I use to get rid of hiccups. 1. Hold my breath, plug my ears and nose, and drink some water all at the same time. In order to do this you must take the drink then do the above before swallowing. 2. Stare at the color yellow for a minute or so, you'll notice the hiccups go away. 3. Peanut butter. Almost always works. 4. Have someone scare you. 5. It doesn't work when you ask them to, but if somebody demands you to hiccup on the spot and says something along the lines of "if you can hiccup again, I'll give you a dollar" or something then usually, they will disappear. Hiccups are a pain but there ARE ways of making them go away. :)
