Epets and Webkins

My kids are asking for webkins for christmas. I know very little about them, so please bear with me. I have seen Webkinz and also Epets, can anyone tell me are these the same idea? Does anyone have either (or both) of these? Which one is better? I really have no idea and thank you for your help.

my daughter got a webkinz for her bday last year. she is 10, so she can easily navigate their site (but i find it confusing).
the basic premise is that the pet comes with a computer code that they can play with thier pet online. they feed it, earn cash, buy it food, buy it clothes and stuff for their room.
if you dont like your child sitting in front of the computer for a long time, you may want to rethink buy one.
