I don't have any strong cleaners and am nearly out of vinegar. Any other ideas?

If you add some baking soda to the vinegar it would help clean it better. You won't need as much. Put it in a zip lock baggy or a cool whip container. Try that and see if it would work.

Take the head off and place it in a cooking pan. Then cook it with vinegar and you are ready.

I probably wouldn't even need to cook it. The vinegar would do the job on its own, but I'll have to get to the store to buy some.

Do you have any bleach? just be careful when using it. Bleach seems to work on most things. I can admit that I have never tryed it on a shower head before but this is just a suggestion.

I always keep bleach around, but I don't know if it's any good for hard water build up. I can't use it right now though as my son is home and he has asthma. He gets tight if I use bleach around him.
