What is the meaning of Christmas?

Ah, how I love questioning society! So, I know we all know that the true meaning of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, but when Christmas comes around you never hear about that, rather you hear "20% OFF ALL CHRISTMAS LIGHTS" or "SHOW YOUR LOVED ONE'S YOU CARE WITH A (insert expensive item here) FOR CHRISTMAS". Christmas always seems to come earlier every year... That's because it DOES come earlier every year. I don't remember a time when they played Christmas songs on the radio before even Thanksgiving. So, here it is, what do you think is the meaning of Christmas for society?

Well I am not a religious person But I feel the meaning there to a point, I have no family to Christmas with anymore so really Christmas for me is a rather sad time and do a lot of thinking of good times that I did have with my family..
