How Does One Report Spam On Messengers?

Long ago, I decided to keep my Yahoo Messenger switched off as I found it annoying to get those "pings" just about every minute when another email was in my mail, or to notify me someone was on-line and available via messenger...so switched it off. Every once in awhile though, I do switch it back on and I'm deluged by about fifty or more notices of someone trying to message me, but NOT anyone I know, but rather someone mentioning, "Hey, there it's been awhile hasn't it, but I found this great new dating line...blah, blah, blah..." and of course from people I don't know from Adam So in our emails we have spam guards or can report spam or mark as spam...How does one do this to block these stupid messages or report them as spam? Why doesn't any of the messenger things have a spam folder too? Or do they??

Oh, pyewacket, you haven't heard anything! I have been deluged myself with these IMs from people I've never heard of before. I unwisely followed a link one day, and I was horrified at the sight of dirty, disgusting pictures on there. I keep asking myself, "How did these people find me?" And they always say, "Hey, it's been awhile..." Like never! I mark them as spam but they continue to come. I am always signed on as "invisible," so I don't understand this.

Like you, I don't use the IM feature much. When I am on the computer I am here with "A Mission". Since you mentioned Yahoo specifically though, they have something called Yahoo 360. I think it is a question and answer format where people get points (I don't know the purpose of the points) for having the best answer to any question. I went there recently to find out how to add a signature to my account, since every time I tried I got a message saying that my siggy was too long. The people on that message board were very helpful indeed. I hope you get the answer you are looking for ~Donna
