I have a wonderful dog-adughter named Rufus. She is a pitbull/mastiff mix. She is a sweet girly dog who loves fancy collars and wearing shirts. So here is my issue. Roofie (that's what we call her) is about 60lbs, and very solidly built, with a big neck and a wide chest, compared to other breeds of dogs, of similar height and length. Now her fur is very shirt, and an area of her belly is practically bald, she is not built for cold weather, and it gets really cold here. However, all of the cute dog jackets and fancy collars and everything else don't come in a size that will fit her. The only thing I have ever been able to find that was intended for a dog that would fit her, looked more like something for a small horse, the cute human-style jackets are apparently onyl for small dogs. Why is this? Do the companys not think that big dogs deserve nice things? Why can't they make the stuff in a few more bigger sizes? Last year we went to Pet's Unlimited to look for a jacket for her, they told us they had only gotten in 2 dog jackets in that size and they both sold within 20 minutes of being put on the self.....SO WHY DIDN'T THEY ORDER MORE?????? I don't know why, but they didn't. So as a result I buy her human hoodies and sweaters in a childrens size 10. But I really want her to have a wind proof bomber jacket INTENDED for a dog. Has anyone else notice that none of the really nice stuff for dogs, especially the stuff for girl dogs, it never avaiable in large sizes?

petedge has sizes teeny to extra huge. I buy all of my doggie stuff and clothes through them. My dogs are not huge but they are dachshunds so some things don't fit them right because the arms are way too long. just go to petedge dot com and you can find anything from sweaters, vests, coats, costumes for your sweetie. We bought a gift for a mastiff once through there and there was plenty of toys and coats to pick from. Just measure her in the places they advise you too.

That sucks! We love to give our pets things no matter what the size. You are good at being innovative though. I know how cold it can get here and jeepers they should be making stuff for the larger dogs

Yeah it really gets on my nerves because alot of big dogs like her, like all the bull breeds, have very impractical fur, they need coats in the winter and there are none to fit them, where as most smaller dogs have lots of fur and there are all kinds of coats to fit them, when they need them less.

We have the same issue with our dogs. We have a pit bull, and a rottweiler. Our pitt bull is about 65lbs and our rottweiler is still a puppy at 35lb but should reach about 150lbs by the time he is full grown. Our issue is finding shirts that fit our pitt bull. He is very broad and muscular and all the shirts that we find aren't designed for his size. I'm sure once our rottweiler gets big enough he will no longer be able to fit the shirts either.

Yeah it's really annoying. Roofie wears kids hoodies but in order for them to be wide enough in the shoulders there ends up being a bnch of extra material between her arms. She loves sweaters and stuff too, so it really sucks that I can't get anything made just right for her. Some dogs don't like clothes but she loves them.
