How do I get a sock made for my sock hook and where can I get it done??

When you have befriended Ellen enough, go give her a yarn of any size on a winter and a non-holiday (I think you can give it at her at any time) and voila, she sews at lightning-speed (or at least what the game says anyway) and there ya go, the sock is placed in your house!!!

Befriend the old lady living beside the Mayor's House. And also give her yarn all the way. I think before Christmas she will give you a sock. Which is the item you will need to get gifts from "Santa". :D
