I think you better get it done as you have wallet-out for the rack and pinion, and the heater core. Try to search on the internet for used-auto-transmission and make comparison from many suppliers for the selling price and the warranty period. Look for the best and that fits your budget.

I think that it is worth it. I have owned a 98 Taurus, and currently own a 2003 Taurus. I think they are great cars, and things may break on it, but after you fix all the stuff, they run great.
