Elvis and memories

I am listening to Elvis right now and feeling a bit nostalgic. I love all of his songs, but I think my most favorite is "Always On My Mind". His music does bring me good memories. My dad used to sing "Are You Lonesome Tonight" to my mom whenever he was trying to cheer her up. That's a great childhood memory. I knew when he sang that to her, that was a special song for them. Not to mention he was my first big crush....even though he was probably old enough to be my dad, but I just thought he was so georgeous with his beautiful eyes and that sexy smile. I remember my mom would wake me up at midnight on the weekends when I was a kid to tell me that there was an Elvis movie on. So she would stay up with me to watch it even though she loved Tom Jones and didn't care for Elvis. These are such good memories.

Listen to him all the time my favorite is amazing Grace. mY daughter has all his CDs and the puter room is full of things about Elvis she is big fan. HE wasnt a really good actor mostly they surrounded him with girls and he sand and what he reallywanted to do was more dramatic movies but the Gernal wouldnt let him! I did like him more In CHarro than in Love me tender.

Yeah I do have many of his songs and I listen to him all of the time as well! I am starting to collect more things, but I want to wait until I buy a house and maybe have a game room or something that I can do a theme in there. I think that would be fun! As for his movies, I have a lot of his movies, and I think that the Colonel made a big mistake by not allowing him free range on his decisions in movies. I think he could have done so well!

From what I have read, he didn't enjoy playing those stereotyped parts where he was singing in the movies. He really wanted dramatic serious roles and I think he could have done it if he were given the chance!

The first Elvis movie I saw was King Creole and the next one, Jailhouse Rock. He was a very good singer, and had a good voice. I mean, he could have made a living in classical singing, he was that good and there are few popular singers to whom I can give that praise to. I saw all his movies, and even now, when there is an Elvis movie, my husband always watches it even if there is some other movie on. My favorite song was Suspicious Mind.

I never cared for much for Elvis to be truthful, I don't like his music, I would actually prefer Tom Jones to be honest. Memories are great to treasure, it's good that we can look back with fondness and revisit the memories we had then.

Tom Jones is awesome! My mom was never much of an Elvis fan and she too prefers Tom Jones. Yeah I agree. Memories are great to treasure, and I do look back with great fondness on them. I hope we have many more to look back on.

Elvis is my idol. I've always loved his songs. Didn't think he was much of an actor but what he lacked in acting he made up for with his very talented voice. "Blue Christmas" is one of my favorites this time of the year. "Spanish Eyes" is another favorite. I have about 12 of his cd's.

Honestly, I don't think there is a song that I really disliked by him. He has such a fantastic voice. Yeah, his movies were a little bit on the kitchy side, but Flaming Star was a more serious role and I think he did pretty well in it. From what I read he wanted so badly to be taken seriously and to do serious acting but he got stereotyped. Blue Christmas has to be one of his best holiday songs. It kind of makes me feel that way because my husband is not here and I can relate to the song! I have many CD's. Everyone knows that if they can't find me anything get me something Elvis!

He is the king that is for sure! I still love listening to his music, he has music for all occasions and emotions. When I am down, I just listen to some of his slow stuff and it moves me to tears sometimes. When I want to jazz things up a little, put on some of his peppy and fun stuff, like Burnin' Love or Viva Las Vegas. I honestly think thousands of people have some kind of memory related to him or his music.

I love Elvis. When I was a kid, we listened to Elvis all the time. Especially at Christmas. The first Christmas album my mom puts on at the holidays. I love Jailhouse Rock, personally. It's my favorite Elvis song. I know wht you mean about the crush, though. When I was a kid I thought he was the cutest guy I'd ever seen.

My mother bought me an Elvis Christmas Album and I listened to that thing all through the year. My mom thought it was pretty funny but she got sick of hearing Blue Christmas in July lol! I had such a big crush on him, I read every book about him, watched every movie I could, and so on. By the time I was old enough to realize that he was old enough to be my father, I didn't care lol! I just thought he was the sexiest man I had ever seen and I think he still is. Aside from The Rock hehehehe!

That is such a sweet story mamasan, thanks for sharing it with us. I love Elvis' songs too, he had such a beautiful, rich voice, and I don't think there has ever been anyone else like him. My favourite song of his is "In the Ghetto" - the words send chills down my back. It's funny how a song or a smell can jerk our memories, and if Elvis can do that for you, count yourself lucky!

Yeah Elvis is pretty special to me. He does bring me very good memories. My aunts used to tell me stories about how my dad would get up on a stool with his little guitar and pretend he was Elvis. Then he used to sing to my mom when we were kids and sometimes even now. Oh, I love "In The Ghetto". That song really does send shivers down the spine. Thanks for responding!
