Argh! Job searching...Any suggestions?

My boyfriend and I have been looking for jobs everywhere. It's pretty difficult considering we're young and live in a small town. I found a job babysitting 3 little girls, 6 days a week, 8 hours a day. But, my boyfriend is yet to have found one. He puts in his applications, makes friendly with the employees and managers and still nobody has called him.
Are there any tips you mylotters would recommend?

how does he dress when he goes to the places? does he fill out the apps there or take them home? Some places will throw the apps away as soon as he leaves if he doesnt fill them out there. Also, some places will throw the application away if he isnt dressed nicely. He should call these places back a week after he puts in the application. Just to update and let them know he is still seeking employment. Also, word of mouth. Let everyone know that he is seeking work, and that if they know of anything, to pass on his name and credentials. Does he have a resume made? If so, he should always include it with his applications. If not, he really should make one up! Good Luck!

He dresses well when he goes out to get applications. He shaves and whatnot. He, however, doesn't stay and fill the app. out the business. I'll run that by him. His dad keeps telling him to bug the manager enough and he'll eventually hire you, if only to make you shut up. Ha.
