My six year old has a tantrum everytime he can't catch a pokemon. He yells and cries and just has a meltdown. I have told him I'm going to take his game time away, and eventually he calms himself down, but the next day same thing.
I'm ready to take the pokemon and make it disappear.
Any suggestions other then break the game system.

Give them the reason why you are taking the game-time away for awhile while explaining what is happening. Avtions in this case will speak as loud as the words, only you won't be yelling. Your voice will be calm as his voice can be if he doesn't catch a pokemon ! Maybe if he were using game-time as learning fun time, he might not get so frustrated and yell about it ? Change 'pokemon' to little einstein or something ?

i have a 9 yr old and a 5 yr old boys, i went through the same thing and i just put the video games up and told them that when they can quit yelling and telling me what to do then they can get it back, now they have the games back but as a treat and then only at short times a day.
