I believed that practice makes perfect. It is through constant study and practice that we become experts in our own field. When i was a student, I usually study at dawn, its head breaking but everything i studied is like a picture that registered in my mind that appears during the exam. I am inviting everybody to share their study habits for possible adaptation by students out there. your habit might give the students the idea what study habits they can apply to earn good grades.

habits can be formed purposely by anyone, so it's crucial to create the right ones. study habits, i guess, depends on our body rhythm. once we know when our mind is more active or absorptive, we can tune in our study schedule with that time of the day/night. i think it is most effective to study at early dawn, just get thru that difficult wake-up moment and everything would be good. your mind is fresh for inputs/memorization and normally that's the most quiet time so there'd be no distraction. it's even healthier to go to bed early and wake up early than stay up late at night studying coz at the end of the day, your body is already exhausted for the day's activity. one more study habit that's effective is, study your lessons daily. this will avoid cramming during periodic exams and it's even an edge for suprise quizzes :)

i usually study during the day with frequent breaks in between. in college i get a lot of free time. so when me and my friends get tired of hanging around, we just brush up our notes and so, most of my college work is finished at college itself. what is left is the project work and assignments, which i usually do during the weekends or in the afternoon. neither can i study till late at night and nor can i get up early in the morning, so i guess the easiest thing is to study during the day!

Its nice that you were able to manage your time during your college days. As i have said, each person has his unique study habit, your habit has somehow made your study a little bit easier and less stressful specially at night. Thanks for your sharing a different study method, I'm sure it will give students out there an idea of another method of studying.

Well, don't ever forget sleep. The only way you can absorb the lessons and perform well in exams is when your brain is functioning at an optimum level. Give it ample rest. When I was a student I would simply pay attention during the class - the lectures and reportings. By the time I got home I would be so tired, all I would do is sleep. I rarely got the chance to open my books. It must be an effective strategy, because I graduated with honors!

WOW! you must be a genius. You must have a pictograph memory. You must be blessed with much higher IQ than most of us here. Congratulations. I am just that type of a person that needs to exert efforts to excel and i can only do that if i study very hard. Thanks for your comments.

You are right each of us has our own habbits. I hava leant that you will concentrate more and have better results, when you will sit at the table, not being in the bet or in the couch , because you will concetrate as much. Also flame, make me more concetrating, so I woudl light up the candle. It is good to take some breaks and relax for a little bit and then repeat the thing you are learning.

I believed that you are taking the positive energy from the flame. You are maybe using the flame to condition your mind and mood. I also agree that settings plays a very important role in the acquisition of knowledge through study. Thanks for your wonderful comments.

Yes, I totally agree with you. When I was studying at school I have to work hard. I always did a lot of homework eveyday. So I usually did not stop studying until midnight. Studying is a hard mission to most of us but if you want to earn great grades you must study hard. I will graduate from university next year but I will always remember the sentence that practice makes perfect.

Its the essence of being a student. The sacrifices, hardship, assignments, projects, exams and the likes. Its very fulfilling to have good grades after every hard work and study. Its just a matter of mind and priority setting. Setting our goal is like aiming an arrow on a target. If you aim it perfectly at the bulls eye and execute it accurately, i don't think so you will not hit the bulls eye or somewhere near it. Good luck. Congratulations in advance for your graduation. Thanks for the comments.

learn in group, so you can share your difficulty and solve it together

Group discussion is very useful for most students. You are right, we can use the group study as an avenue to convey our difficulties as well as our strength in the field we are studying. We call it cooperative learning. The concept is that two heads are better than one. Thanks for your comments.

But the repeatedly practise certainly not equal to the machinery the repetition. You need to enhance the efficiency and the success ratio which repeaterly practise, otherwise that is really not a good habit.

Thanks for the comments. It is really nice to share our views. Constant practice does'nt mean doing the same drills all the time. When we practice, we try to search for new variations of exercises and problems, that is, learning new things and applying the same concepts.

personally I use index cards and write everything down right after a lecture. Then a week before the exam I review all notes on the index and studey from them just like you very early in the morning. For some reason you brain retains information very differently so early in the morning. Then I take as many practice test as possible and hope for luck!!

It feels great that our styles in studying are effective as far as we are concern. Of course I also believe that this habit is not applicable to all. Every person has our unique way of studying. I am just glad that we are riding on the same boat. Thanks a lot for your comments. I hope our comments had helped some readers out there.

I feel that the best time to study is at a regular time, whether its at dawn like Mr. Jongsky said, or at a unusual time like midnight. Either way, I vary my study times depending on how I feel that particular day. My study habits usually include a soft melody of classical music in the background with a calm and well lit place. I study for 30 minute intervals and often take breaks for 5-10 minutes in between those 30 minute intervals.

I strongly agree with you. I also don't continue studying if i'm not mentally, physically, and emotionally prepared. As experienced, if we force ourselves doing things we don't feel like doing, no positive results are achieved. You have a very nice study habit. I guess you are a very sweet and loving young lady. Thanks for sharing your comments regarding this topic. Please continue sharing views.
