To those who think sushi is raw fish, it isn't. Sure there's sushi that has raw salmon or whatever, but there are many kinds of sushi as well, including vegetarian. I like most kinds of sushi... but my favourite fillings are crab and shrimp, but I also like the kind that they wrap around with egg. I'd also really want to try the tempura (fried shrimp) kind, it looks quite good. Has anyone made their own sushi before? You get to put your own crazy things and experiment. I've tried egg and ham, tuna and other kinds of fish. I've known a friend to be even more experimental than me and puts things like peanut butter and jam inside their sushi. It's quite interesting but didn't look very appetizing...

here's a list of sushi type: 1.)Nigiri-zushi - hand formed sushi most commonly served in restaurants and pressed by hands, served wih wasabi and soy 1.a.)Gunkan-Maki - a special type of nigiri-zushi hand formed clump of rice finely chopped quail eggs, nori, natto(made from fermented soy bean), roe(ripe fish eggs and other marine animal such as sea urchin, shrimp and scallops). 2.)Maki-zushi (roll) - it is formed by a bamboo mat(makisu)wrapped in nori but some are wrap in a thin omelette, sesame seeds, cucumber and parsley. 2.a)Futomaki - large or fat rolls 2.b)Hosomaki - often tuna, cucumber, kanpyo, thinly sliced carrots, or, more recently, avocado. 2.a.a)Kappamaki - a kind of Hosomaki that is cucumber a filled sushi and sometimes with raw fish. 2.a.b)Tekkamaki - a kind of Hosomaki that is filled with raw fish. 2.c)Uramaki - Inside-out roll meaning Uramaki differs from other maki because the rice is on the outside and the nori inside. The filling is in the center surrounded by nori, then a layered of rice, and an outer coating of some other ingredients such as roe or toasted sesame seeds. It can be made with different fillings such as tuna, crab meat, avocado, mayonnaise, cucumber, carrots. 2.d)Temaki - a Hand rolled type of sushi filled with rice carrots and cucumber, looks like an ice cream cone usually eaten quickli cause the nori cone will absorb the moisture and loses crispness and becomes somewhat dfficult to bite. eaten by hand and not with chopsticks. 2.e)Inari-Zushi - A pouch of fried tofu filled with usually just sushi rice 3.)Osizushi - Formed using a wooden block called the oshibako and pressed, it usually filled with toppings and rice on the bottom of the oshibako box. Once pressed the chef usually cut the mold formed sushi into bit size pieces. 4.)Chirasizushi - Scattered sushi, easy to make served in a bowl and the ingredients is mixed in. 4.a)Edomae Chirashizushi - Edo style scattered sushi is an uncooked ingredient that is arranged artfully on top of the sushi. 4.b)Gomokuzushi - Kansai style scaterred sushi Cooked or uncooked ingredients mixed in the body of rice in a bowl. 5.)Temarizushi - Ball shaped sushi easy for beginners this is a ball formed sushi with rice and raw fish. ENJOY!! :)

even though I'm half japanese, I hate most seafood. The only sushi I like is the kind with the thick omlet, and the kind with cooked eel.
