Someone needs to ask Huckabee what his position on Illegal Aliens actually is... On his website he says.. The Governor opposes and will not tolerate sanctuaries for illegals. The federal government must crack down on rogue cities that willfully undermine our economy and national security. But as a governor he advocated college scholarships for illegal aliens. Sounds a bit Hillaryesque to me ;~D

At one time I thought that Huckabee would make a great President. That was until I saw that he advocates giving college scholarships to illegal immigrants. Why should this country pay for illegal immigrants to get a college education when it doesn't even pay for its own citizens to? These days I feel like most politicians don't even care about what the legal citizens of this country want. Our government needs to quit giving the illegal immigrants handouts and enforcing the laws that are already on the books. So far I would have to say that Tom Tancredo has my vote.

You don't have all of the facts. The full details of the scholarship were as follows: The child had to have lived in the State of Arkansas since the age of 5, maintained an A average and been applying for citizenship. "Why should this country pay for illegal immigrants to get a college education when it doesn't even pay for its own citizens to?" We ARE paying for our own citizens to go to college. Haven't you ever heard of Pell Grants and other types of financial aid and scholarships? Why should the children of illegal immigrants be punished for the sins of their fathers. For most of them, this is the only home they have ever known. Why shouldn't they be able to get an equal chance at an education?

Cherry Pig, when a kid applies for that scholarship, the authorities know his or her parents are illegal aliens. What do the authorities do about it? They reward the parents for being able to continue committing their crime. The reason the kids of illegal aliends shouldn't get special privileges from the state is, they can't get those privileges without the state condoning the illegal activity. It isn't punishing the kids for the crimes of their parents, it is the fact that the parents shouldn't be here either. Also, remember, that kid is taking up a class seat that a person who is here legally should have gotten. How many Americans, or Legal Immigrants are denied acceptance to Arkansas' Universities, colleges and tech schools? And Huckabee wants to increase the competition for those seats with kids who aren't supposed to even be in the country?

It sounds like the regular B.S. a candidate has to say to get elected.Don't worry, a candidate's view is like the weather, if you don't like this one , it will change.

But a good candidate's position doesn't change just to get elected. And yes, there are candidates out there who at least try to accomplish what they said they would after they are elected.

NO, a BAD candidate says whatever they have to to get elected. Is there nothing vial and contemptable enough that you won't embrace it? How scummy are you?

A good candidate has to change their position just to get elected, they need all the money they can steal to run.in order to get this money, they have to promise anything, sometimes it is the polar opposite of what they Really believe. And unless they had their own money, they will try to serve the special interests that got them elected.

I am not much into politics as it is never resolved once you get into a discussion or debate on it..but I think you should know Ted that politicians never make sense..They may disagree with something but then give their approval on something similar to what they disagree with.. I have never known any Politician that made sense.!

You're right, he did support the scholarships for the CHILDREN of illegal aliens. The legislature, however, defeated that proposal. I live in Arkansas and watched Huckabee for 10 years as governor and that is probably the most un-conservative thing he did, or tried to do. I need to research his stand on illegals better, though I do know that he has said he will protect our borders. He is an extremely intelligent man and a very effective leader. You can find more research about him on my squidoo page if you'd like to look. Link to my list of squidoo lenses (pages) is in my profile.

Oh, I'm sure there are a lot of reasons to vote for him. This isn't a Hate Huckabee entry, it's simply questioning his stand on this issue.

I didn't take it that way at all. None of the candidates is perfect, so it's very important that we do our research and get as much information as we can. Thanks for starting the conversation!
