Screeners at the Toronto airport wear uniforms prescribed by the security company Garda. Women can wear pants or skirts that cover the knees. A Muslim women who was employed by this company decided the skirts and pants were not modest enough. She made her own skirt of similar material but longer than the uniform material. After wearing it for seven months she was suspended because it violated the dress code of Garda.
I think if you want to work for a company that has uniform dress codes you should abide by them or look for another job. What if one of the guys decided he wanted flared pants or red buttons on his uniform? This case is now before the Human Rights Commission. I think it is a sad waste of public money.
What is your opinion? But please this is not a Muslim bashing discussion it should deal with the question of adhering to dress codes.

It really is sad to see how our public funds, that could go in education or health for our elderly, is being wasted on minorities complaining about rules that us native Canadians have to obey to ourselves.

Yes, I think it is a waste of taxpayer's money having to deal with issues like this. If a dress code is in place, if uniforms have to be worn people should either comply with those rules or they should look for other jobs.
