What is society saying these days about interracial dating? For the longest time you would mainly see couples where the guy was black and the female was of another race. Now, we are seeing more couples where the female is black. What is your take on interracial dating? Please be honest, I never get offended. I am who I am. And I like to know the opinions of different types of people

i am for interracial dating. i have actually dated a guy of color and most of my family doesn't approve of the whole idea so only two members of my family knew i was with him. my mom and my sister. my grandpa always says he'd take me out of his will if i was in an interracial relationship, although i don't know if he'd actually do that, but i knew he'd go crazy if he knew, so i just kept it quiet. my dad didn't even know we were together. but, i could only stand being with him for 2months before i got fed up with his actions - but that's for another discussion! haha.

Well, guys will be guys no matter what color, right? As for your grandpa, I'm pretty sure he would have stood by his word. He's old school, and especially if he's from the south you'd probably give the man a heart attack. So, you definitely made the right decision. It is your paternal or maternal grandfather? And how did you keep it from your dad? I was raised to be versatile, but have always preferred white, I don't know why I just do. Whether dating male or female (I'm Bi). And I don't know why, but so far I've found out that I've been all of my white lovers FIRST black girl. I don't know how it happened, but it did. Male or Female...I've been their first. I don't know what it is about me that makes them decide to try it. But one thing for sure, they were all serious relationships and lasted for quite some time.

yes, they definitely will be, haha. my grandpa though isn't from the south, he's from the north. michigan in fact. as far north as you can get in the us, haha. but i agree, it would've definitely caused some major grief and all - which is why we just kept it quiet. he is my maternal grandfather. and my mom, sister and i kept it from my dad quite easily. i don't have the best relationship with him - so we rarely talk, even though we lived in the same house at the time. so that helped, but my boyfriend at the time would come over and we'd just be in my room or whatever. my dad just thought that we were friends. that's great though that you've had a lot of luck in those relationships. i don't think that i'd get into another interracial relationship though. mainly because i'm already with the one i want to be with forever. but also because it was just too hard for me to do because of my family. it's bad that it's like that, but it is.

Well I'm glad you have found your true love. And I'm sorry that you had to hide that other relationship. Although, I can only imagine how it was for you, I was on the other end of that spectrum. A guy I dated some years ago had to hide our relationship from his father and grandfather. His parents were divorced, his mom lived in Georgia, but liked me and didn't have a problem with the fact that I was black. And things got real crazy when one day his father and grandfather to decided to pop over for a visit (during dinner). And because I didn't want to see how things would escalate with my children present, I chose to take my daughters and go to the bedroom. If it was just me there I would have stayed to see how things unfolded, but since my children were young I didn't want to put them through such a thing. Well, I hope that you can continue to share your experience with others, and I'm sorry that you had to hide it. Good luck with the new love. If things don't work out with me and my current love, I will continue to prefer whites. I just found that I really don't have much in common with most black guys that want me, other than our skin color or the city we are from.

I think it's great if people want to get into an interracial relationship. :) My best friend from first grade who is African American got together with a Caucasian boy when we were teenagers. I thought they made a cute couple. I also knew of a Mexican girl that got together with an African American man. I saw their first born baby and I must say she was so much cuter having mixed races. She was even cuter than her Auntie's baby who was full Mexican. LOL I've never understood why anyone would have a problem with someone dating a different race. Aren't we all people, whether we are black, white, short, tall, etc? People are people and if they want to date outside their race, then so be it. Who are we to judge? So, what's your take on interracial dating dramaqn?

Well, I dont think colors matter in terms of dating. Even if you are black and your partner is white, it doesn't matter as long as you go along well with each other. I have a good friend who is black. We go out before when I was still single. It doesn't matter to me if he is black... and I think that it doesn't matter to him that I am white.

And that is the way it should be. I wish society would realize it will not stop. If slavery couldn't stop mix racing, and segregation couldn't stop race mixing, guess what? NOTHING will stop race mixing.

I've always dated interracially. All of my serious boyfriend have been a different "race" (there's only one race as far as I'm concerned)as me. As my favorite artist Prince sings "I'm an international lover" It doesn't matter to me. People are people. My boyfriend is Chinese I'm black. I've dated white, black, Filipino, Mexican-American, Malayaian, Japanese. It's all good. I don't even notice other people's reactions and I don't care.

That's great, well you got one up on me. I've dated everything but Asian. I have a guy cousin who makes a joke and says he beat me to the punch on that one. We were just raised to be versatile and we love it that our family is like that. I'm a firm believer that love doesn't see color, so why should we? And based on what you have written I think you feel the same. Thank you for your comment.
