Do you always know when your child is telling a lie?

When my little kid was three years old, I could always tell when she was telling a lie or not telling the entire truth. She would look away and toss her head. I'm not sure why that would tip me off to the fact the she might be fudging the truth, but it would. Of course, really little kids don't actually lie. They sort of stretch reality. Now that she's a bit older, it's much harder to know when she's stretching the truth or just plain making stuff up. Kids her age, use their imagination almost constantly. And, sometimes that extends to telling the truth. How do you know when your child is telling a lie? Do you always know when they are not being perfectly honest with you? How?

Hello beauty queen. It is usually easy to tell whether a kid is telling a lie or not as they will behave a little different from the way they tell the truth. I am glad to know that you have found out how this little cute girl of yours told a lie when she was so little at three. hehe. It shows that she is a clever kid as she knows how to make up a story to make her dear mom believe what she is talking about. You know, sometimes lies are needed to reach some goals or to make someone feel better rather than the truth. Not all lies are bad though. lol Thanks very much for your nice discussion, my dear friend.

There are a lot of times I catch my 6 year old daughter telling a lie. But these seem to be white lies that she thinks might not hurt her. I don't ignore these things so I let her think it's a bad idea and it won't help her either.
