it first helps to get the nerves to quit firing off and registering pain, then it does a massage to relax spasming muscles. Have you ever gone to physical therapy? Did you have exercises? Pain relief creams? Traction? TENs units? I've had all of the above. I seem to be having less pain. What have you had and what helped you?

some years back while at work I injured my back to the point that it was spazing all the time and just didnt quit, I had phy.therpy, exercise, pain killers but non of that worked for me, I had to have redial frequency done to burn the nerves to get it to stop hurting, while it is not a cure it did stop the painit last for about 3 years and i am just now begining to get break theu pain, so it may be close to time to get it done again.I also take pain pills Tramadol which is non narcotic it helps keep me going.
My husband has a tens unit but it dosnt seem to help him much its almost like it stires up the nerves for him.

I'm sorry you have been through so much and the pain is back. Spasms are horrible. This Electrotherapy is supposed to be better than the TENs unit and not stir things up. I was tried on TENs before one time it didn't help the nerve and another time the problem was supposed to be too deep. So hopefully this more advanced electrotherapy will help. I hope both of you find relief somehow. Maybe this post will help if other people have ideas. Sometimes simple things are a help.
My knee kept driving me crazy with a nerve, I had a Doctor tell me to find clothes that didn't make the nerve fire-off. Strangely enough, that helped my knee. But my back and neck are an entirely different matter. Take care, tramadol, I'll have to look at that if this doesn't work, but I'm hoping it does.

I had the TENS and another device that was supposed to stimulate bone growth when my leg was cut off... they didn't do much. So far, accupressure, acupuncture and Tramadol are the only things that have helped at all. Nerve pain is a whole different animal than what most people are dealing with. I do keep having dreams where I'm hanging by my feet...

I have a friend who swears by accupuncture, but that doesn't sound like something I would go for. Accupressure would be more my speed.
The traction I'm on is on a table, no hanging by the feet due to my blood pressure. When I'm im pain, my blood pressure automatically goes up. That's 2 people for tramadol. Hope I don't have to go on meds, trying to avoid them. Take care

S'okay... I've had a few glitches lately!!
I think that its important to use the body to heal the body... I could be knocked out all day and wouldn't feel pain, but I need to function...
My acupuncturist would tape 'seeds' to the spots where the needles came out, and I would massage those points. As I did this, I could feel relief in different places. It nearly always 'crosses' the body... works on the opposite side. Try pinching your ear for about two minutes each in different places... its amazing!
