Je Ne Sais Quoi!

Tell me something that has that Je Ne Sais Quoi quality to you. For those who aren't sure what je ne sais quoi means, it's basically, as described in the Merriam-Webster dictionary: "something that cannot be adequately described or expressed" For me, there are a lot of things that I admire or like or find myself drawn to that others just can't seem to understand and I just can't seem to explain. I'd say that when I think "Je Ne Sais Quoi" the first person that comes to mind is Shia Labeouf... found here: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0479471/ The other thing that comes to mind is of course my love for all things from the 1980's. For me, it had that Je Ne Sais Quoi. Maybe it's just the memories of being a kid and growing up and not having those responsibilities but who knows... I just love it. So tell me something you'd describe as having that Je Ne Sais Quoi!

Huummm....I imagine there are lots of things on my list that could be described like that. For one (as you I'm sure have realized) my fascination and basically an obsession with Harry Potter. I have no idea why I connect with it so much. Why Shia Labeouf?? Is it his name or just him? He's sure got a rather unusual name - says the woman that is possibly the person that has her name.

Ha ha. Well Shia has the Je Ne Sais Quoi! It's indescribable! I don't really know. I used to watch Even Stevens and I just thought he was funny. Then I saw this movie that he was in before then and it was cute. My brother hated him, thought he was one of those actors who tried too hard to be funny. But I then saw him in some movie where he played a "special" boy and he was really good in it. My admiration for him just grew from then on. I could name about 20 people that I find more attractive to him, but I'm not nearly as fascinated by any of them as much as Shia! I don't think it's his name but his name is interesting, interesting names rock :p So how obsessed are you with Harry Potter? I mean, do you go beyond just reading the books and movies? Do you go to the midnight showings of the movies and book releases? Do you search for Harry Potter fan pages? My co-worker is basically obessed with that new show Gossip Girl. I admit I like it, but he's a 29 year old dude ha ha! Everyones got something that has that Je Ne Sais Quoi! (I love that phrase!)

LOL - well I'm pretty obsessed but I don't got to midnight events. Though I couldn't say I wouldn't go to a midnight showing of the movies. I'm not much around crowds. I also don't frequent fan sites too much. I love vertiserum.com, mugglenet.com, and hp-lexicon.com. Though I don't get on the message boards. And I hate fan fiction. I never have read them but have been told about some of them. They're are some really perverted people out there. I'm not attracted to Harry (or Daniel) but I do love, love reading the books, watching the movies, talking about the books and movies, my myspace page & yuwie page are covered in HP photos (okay well the layout anyway LOL), and if you noticed my contact table on myspace - yep spells and what not LOL. On Yuwie though I've joined a couple of HP fan clubs. I even told my hubby the other day that he knows he shares his love with Harry (was reading the Order for the second time this year LOL). And I get real excited when a trailer or commercial of one of the movies comes on. But I do have an obsessive personality too. If this where a couple of years ago we might have been talking about Charmed. Though I never read any of the fiction books they put out.

I get that same type fascination with some actors and actresses too. I'll follow their careers and go back and watch their old stuff too.

I would have to say that the 80s would be mine too. My sister asks me about the 80s all the time because of how much I talk about back in the day, but I can never really explain the awesomeness. You would have just had to live back then to fully appreciate that decade. I'm 23 and it is still the greatest time of my young life. Another thing that I think is hard to explain is love. That may soud cheesy and cliche, but I have never known anyone to be able to explain or describe love without fumbling around with their words. I had a friend ask me awhile back why I love Michael. I don't know, for lots of reasons. I can't describe or fully explain why. Just because, you know?

Of course it's the 80's :p It's true, there really is not explaining the awesomeness that was growing up in the 80's. I don't know what to say to explain it at all but I love everything there was about growing up in the 80's. Things really went to suck in '92 I think... so I can even get down with '90 and '91. Ha ha you cheeseball! Love! Lame! Well it's true though. My best friend Stan... we had a certain Je Ne Sais Quio between us and I can't ever explain it to anyone because no one I talk to now have any idea who he was. So I get that...sometimes that really is hard to explain.

Shia is cool and charismatic, and a pretty good actor I think. Should be interesting to see him in the new Indiana Jones movie. Seems that your Je Ne Sais Quoi things, and that of GnosticGoddess, are kind of guilty pleasures. Of course they don't have to be right? For me, my response to certain music and humor has a certain JNSQ quality. I mean, I get a kick out of glam rock and 80s music, and they are guilty pleasures. But also punk/new wave has a sound that evokes all kinds of feelings for me out of proportion to the actual content of the music. It's an attitude as much as anything else, I guess. On a topical note, Christmas has a JNSQ quality. I don't receive much in the way of gifts, nor do much partying, or see much merit in the garish decorations and cheesy music. And I'm not religious and all the shopping sucks. But still, December is infused with some kind of spirit that has a JNSQ spirit.

I don't know how I missed responding to this. Yeah, I love Shia. There's just something about him that I'm attracted to and he's totally a great actor I think. I don't think the Je Ne Sais Quoi has to be something that you'd find as a guilty pleasure, but it's just something you're drawn to without real explanation. The music is definitely something that has the JNSQ factor as does the "holidays" ha ha. It's just something that's totally fun and you love and you don't have to explain why! good choices.
