Has your cat ever lost his voice?

About two months ago, when we got our new kitten, strange things started happening with out other cats. First the cats started having tummy troubles. Then the big cat stopped eating and lost his voice. He could only make tiny chirping sounds. He sounded just like a kitten. After two weeks he got his voice back. But, it really worried me. That cat has been my little man, since I got him as a kitten. I guess I'm worried that whatever made him sick will come back. Has your cat ever lost his voice? What was the problem? Do you think that he was just depressed and wanted attention? And, maybe it wasn't really medical, at all? Maybe he was trying to act like a kitten to get more attention? What do you think?

Could the cat have caught cold that made him lose his voice, please? I am not sure yet as I do not have cats of my own. I guess that it is ok now after two month. I am sure that my dear beauty queen would be happy to hear his voice again, huh? Thanks for your discussion, dear beauty queen.

Thank you for your concern. I do think he had a cold or virus. He is well now, but I feared for him. I think he almost passed away. I would have been so sad and heart broken.

None of my cats have ever had any tummy or voice problems but they aren't really that old yet. I have two female cats, the problem is they came to me and sat on my porch begging for food, so after two days I started feeding them and they have stayed ever since. So I wouldn't know what to do in your spot, the only thing I would probally do is take them to the vets office. And also because it's the first time you don't know what to expect to come, so if I was you I would just go get him checked out to be safe, because it could maybe be contributing to a bigger problem down the road.

We had a boy cat in the past, Saber was his name and he used to lose his voice every spring due to allergies. The poor dear would go around opening his mouth and nothing would come out! If it happens again or the tummy troubles come back you may want to make a trip the the vet your new furbaby could have given your other cats a parasite or something.
