Ever buy something to be cool with the salesman?

Have you ever bought something to be cool with the sales person? Have you ever bought something, a car or even a magazine subscription, because the sales person seemed to be your friend and by not buying it, you would be unworthy, unloyal, cruel or uncool to them? I used to do this when I was younger and nieve, now I understand it is a game the sales guys play. When I shop now, I only have one friend, myself. I don't care if I come across as cold or a jerk, I am a tough sell now. And if I don't need it, I don't let them even waste their time. I remember once feeling bad but no more. How many times do you hang with the sales guy once the deal has been made? Do you go to dinner or enjoy events together?
