Well we spent most the day at the Drs. office, clinic, and the lab at the hospital today. Her physical was good with no forseen problems to being a marrow donor for her brother, Her chest x-ray was fine. The EKG showed no irregularities or problems. So pysically my wife has been cleared by our family Dr. for the donor process. Now the lab work on the blood went absolutely fantastic. We drove beforehand to find the nearest FedEx/Kinkos to ship the samples from and to get a rough estimate. Then to the Hospital for the blood to be drawn. This Hospital lab staff was so great in their work that was done. They sent out an MSO order which is Misc. Send Out. Which means they avoided a lot of exspense for us as far as the cost of the lab work. Then they did more fandangled great paper work avoidance by them doing the final shipping, and billing it to The University of Michigan. So all in all there was no cost to us at all today for anything that was done. Can't beat that. The hospital did a great job of avoiding red tape and shipping problems as well. So thats the update. She leaves for Micigan on the 13th and will return between the 22nd and 24th depending on the way it goes there. By this time tomorrow the University of Michigan will have all they need until she gets there for all her future appts. with their staff. HAHAHA! She is already scheduluded for 3 one hour appointments on the 14th is just the start I guess for her. Thanks all. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

That is so wonderful the hospital was able to do all that work for you and your wife. What a relief it must have been for you two not having to do the paperwork or shipping. Far better than that other clinic you were at.

Speaking of the other clinic the lab is also where my wife had her x-ray and EKG taken at. That woman would not even look at either of us. HAHAHA!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I'm so glad things went really smooth today for your wife..and that was great that you didn't have additional costs there for sending the blood out. I sure hope she can be back before the 24th--that would be a nice Christmas gift to you to have her back then, right? :)

This is a lot of busy work for your wife. But it is positive that all appointments have gone so well. The added benefit is that your wifes health is great. Good Luck with all this.

Hi Grandpa Bob, I'm so happy to hear that everything went smoothly. I'm sure there'll be a lot of preparations before December 13th rolls around, with packing, flight arrangements etc. I'm so thankful that you're going to have her home in time for Christmas. Did I just dream this, or did you say in another of your discussions, that she'll have a sore hip, and legs after the procedure? I'm asking this, because you said to another respondent here, that this is done with a needle in each arm. Maybe I'm confused here, and if so, sorry, and it wouldn't be the first time. HAHA.

She will have a sore leg due to the injections she has to administer to her thigh twice a day for 5 days is all. The flight has been arranged and reserved already. So it's pack and head out soon for her. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~
