Cop Shoots and Kills Armed Husband

United States

Cops were called to a domestic abuse call. When they arrived the agitated husband came out of the garage holding a rifle. He retreated back into the garage, but appeared again. Officers tried twice to subdue him using their stun guns, but they were not having te "desired" effect on the man. Then, the man aimed the rifle at officers, and his wife. Fearing for the wife, and his friends, one of the officers shot and killed the husband. There is an investigation going on in the shooting, but to me it's pretty obvious the cop was in the right. Other thoughts?

Hello LilyoftheThorns,Thanks for your post, yes cops sometimes makes hurry to shoot but in this case the cops did no mistake as the man was armed himself secondly he didnt surrender and finally he dared to aim the rifle towards the officer and according to me the cop did absolutely right.Thanks.

Thank you for the response :) I'm glad you agree with me too. I understand sometimes cops may shoot when they don't need to...but to me that doesn't happen very often.

A lot of times I have assumed that cases were open and shut, but you will be surprised at what comes out in the details. Sometimes, cops can be trigger happy and shoot when it is not absolutly needed. Wait for the investigation to be completed, you never know how things may turn out.

I don't think there are many hidden details here. It is a pretty clear case. Plus the cop does have the wife and othe officers as witnesses. I believe there was no wrong doing in this case, and even if some charge is brought against the officer I would think it was bogus. But i do agree that sometimes cops don't need to shoot, even the cop may truely believe he did.

I hate it when cops shoot and kill people.

I understand that it isn't the best thing. But this cop was worried about his friends and the angry mans wife and kids. I mean obvisouly the husband was angry and the cop had no choice.

The police made the right call and they did try to talk him down. The man, however, intended to murder his wife and the police officers. I do believe when the INS does its investigation, the cops might get a commendation, and who knows whether the man would not have killed the children, if they had any. By the way, I would like to know the link or at least the city where this occurred so I can read the article.

Yes they did have children, 11 and 12 year olds. I believe the children were home, but it did not say if they were in the house or with the cops at that point. I read this article in our newspaper, but I can try and find you a link. I know it happened in Arizona, but sure which city. I might be able to find a quick link for you. I'll post it here if I do.
