Have you ever gotten sick from eating fish sticks?

When I was a little kid, maybe two or three years old, my mom would make us fish sticks. And, one time, she took the frozen package of fish sticks and stored them in the refrigerator. Guess she was trying to thaw them out. Anyway, she didn't bake them until the next day. And, when she did the results were not pleasant. Although I don't remember the event, later, my big brother told me that we all got violently ill. Guess some things should forever remain in the freezer, until ready for use, like fish. Since then, I've been very leery of buying fish products. I suppose if you handle them right, then they're safe enough to eat. But, you can never tell. Have you ever gotten sick by eating frozen fish sticks or other frozen food? What type of safety precautions do you use when handling fish to make sure you or your family doesn't get sick?
