When I was growing up, my mom made the most delicious home fries. Of course, she used lots of cooking oil. So, maybe that was her secret to tasty home fries. Anyway, I never figured out how she made them. And, she never told me. Maybe she used some type of spices on the fries. Does anyone know how to make really good tasting home fries or home made french fries? Would love to add that recipe to my collection for my little kid. She eats french fries all the time. Sometimes daily. I think she'd like the home made variety, just as well. Any suggestions or recipe ideas?

So I tried batter - after all it makes chicken, shrimp, and onion rings crispy so why not potatoes. Now even my husband can't get enough of these French fries. They even stay crispy when you reheat in the microwave." INGREDIENTS * 2 1/2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled * 1 cup all-purpose flour * 1 teaspoon garlic salt * 1 teaspoon onion salt * 1 teaspoon salt * 1 teaspoon paprika * 1/2 cup water, or as needed * 1 cup vegetable oil for frying DIRECTIONS 1. Slice potatoes into French fries, and place into cold water so they won't turn brown while you prepare the oil. 2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. While the oil is heating, sift the flour, garlic salt, onion salt, (regular) salt, and paprika into a large bowl. Gradually stir in enough water so that the mixture can be drizzled from a spoon. 3. Dip potato slices into the batter one at a time, and place in the hot oil so they are not touching at first. The fries must be placed into the skillet one at a time, or they will clump together. Fry until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

I just peel potatoes and cut them up in a french fry cutter and cook then in a fry daddy. Then put salt on them I think they are so good and tate much better than the frozen french fries. They are so good they don't even need ketshup.

I make fries that are pretty good but I use a deep fryer and they are not what you would call healthy by any means. I heat the oil to about 350 degrees. I cut up the potatoes and rinse them in water then cook them in the hot fat about 8 mins then take them out and turn up the oil to 375 degrees and fry them until they are brown and crispy about 10mins then I dry them on a paper towel and sprinkle seasoned salt on them. Now I have a craving for fries...
