Mine is the annual Christmas letter from my Aunt Georgia. The evening of the first Christas after she passed on I sat and cried quietly for what seemed to be no reason. Then the reason came to me, I had no letter that month from Aunt Georgia. During her life she was not only an Aunt but she was like a mother to me. She was a farm woman, with great patience. She loved to sew and bake. Oh she made the best Barbie Doll cakes and sewed her daughters prom dresses. Her and my Uncle even took in one of my daughters during a dangerous and trying time. I learned so many life lessons from her. Her annual end of the year letter was sent out to all family members describing the years life on the farm. The whos who and whats what of her and her immediate families lives. We always could catch up with those letters. They kept those of us away from the farm connected to that part of the family. My Aunt Georgia was a diabetic and soon her kidneys failed. Even after she was wheelchair bound she sent those letters only they were typed or dictated instead of hand written. A couple of my cousins tried to keep up the tradition but it just became too hard. One cousins wife now sends an end of the year letter describing their childrens activities and triumps. I enjoy them immensely but they are just not the same. I miss Aunt Georgia and her wonderful letters, but espescially that Christmas letter.
