Where to Donate or Volunteer

I recently came across an article talking about ways to make extra money for the holidays, and it said that collecting and cashing in pop cans is a great way to do so. It got me thinking that probably if I or someone asked their neighborhood to start saving pop cans for a few months, a pretty decent amount of money could be raised. Its been a long time since I've found a cause to really be passionate about and since I started college I've done a lot less volunteer work than I used to so I thought maybe if I happen to put this plan into action I could use the money to volunteer abroad like I've been wanting to, but it might just be way more effective to donate it. Any good causes you know of,are passionate about, or any suggestions?
