Christmas has nothing to do with jesus/god... why?

Putting all faith aside, im pretty sure that most people would agree that Christmas has turned from a religious holiday to a corporate scandal. This is a huge problem. Capitalism has turned Christmas into "buy and sell" month, turning the celebration of jesus christ into advertisement. If you know anything about history, you would know about the 14-16th century when protestantism, a reformation of the catholic church, was formed. One of the main reasons was the selling of Indulgences, buying your way into heaven. Not only that, but also the selling of Relics and the selling of powerful positions in the church. I don't know about you, but this kind of reminds me of xmas. Be good so you can get some presents from santa. So, this christmas, if you are a real christian, forget all the material goods, give away your money to the poor and dont give anything to your kids other the gift of self-satisfaction. Merry X-MAS

I am going to mass this christmas and will be praying but I will be giving money to charity and buying gifts for Toys for Tots. I usually do that. I feel if one knows the difference than it is OK to give gifts. I know some religions frown upon giving gift of anykind for any special holiday and I respect that. It is just not my thing.

Hi snoad, It is sad that so many people forget the TRUE meaning of Christmas. We get so caught up in the shopping, decorating, etc and get so busy with all of that. We need to remember that Christmas is about Jesus Christ. We are celebrating HIS birth...one of the two most greatest events in human history...the other one being His Resurrection. I thank God everyday, not just at Christmas time, for sending His Son to save me. I don't say "Happy Holidays" or "Season's Greetings". I say, "MERRY CHRISTMAS!" God bless and Merry CHRISTmas! :)

A very apropos Post. Yes, December is the buy and sell month, and its not about Christianity at all. The very fact that the Christian Churches keep very quiet about this, says something for the State of Christian Religion today. Organised Religion is as corrupt as were the merchants in the Temple when Jesus Put them out. Christmas is a corruption of the Birth of the Saviour, and nobody Cares except you and I and we and not even Christians!
