Interesting reading!
I already have the theory that if it tastes good it probably isn't very good for you and I restrict my intake but I make sure I REALLY enjoy the things that are bad for me in the small portions I allow myself!
In the United Kingdom the government has a bad habit of telling everyone what they should and should not eat and the moment they decide that a food is very good for everyone the price goes through the roof so I wish they would shut up about it.
For an example, the local supermarket has instant whip at 3p a packet (about 5 cents). Add some milk to it and you have a desert for four people for about 40p (about 20 cents). ONE apple can cost 60p and feed one so it is not surprising a lot of people opt for the affordable and rather enjoyable though totally devoid of nutrition whip!

I do not care for fast foods. I eat them if there is no choice, or for a treat, but I would rather eat at home or go to a good restaurant. At least, I can choose a healthy meal. I hate burgers, I like corn tacos and I love salads, and I have seen the Judge shows and how many of the defendants and litigents are way past overweight. I do not like it at all. I think it started when they started to put trans fats in the foods, and now people cannot get rid of them and the fast food industry is not helping any.

It doesn't surprise me at all, probably because I am obsessed with calories and I look at the calorie, fat, sodium, carb, and sugar content of every food before I eat it. I am trying to wean myself off counting calories though because I don't think it's healthy for me to obsess that much! Anyway, fast food is horrible. Nobody should eat it if they want to be healthy (at least not more than once a month or something) and I think we all know this but many people plead ignorance. What they "don't know" will hurt them though. When I go out to eat a restaurant I cut my food in half and take half of it home with me to eat another day. That way I only get half the calories and I can still enjoy the food. Plus, I am never really hungry for the whole thing as long as I eat slowly and pay attention to when I get full.

Thank goodness I'm not really into fast foods at all. I was reading the individual listing for each item and none are what I eat. But it's amazing how some of those foods for just one serving are over 1,700 calories...that is more then half of the caloric intake for the day.

I am not surprised at all. It is known that fast food is selling worst food and it is far away from healthy...

No wonder we have a nation of obese people when so many calories are consumed in one quick meal I am so glad I made a lifestyle change almost 2 ears ago and have stuck to it. I never eat fast foods any more, although sometimes I do get tempted.
