Virtual Console on the Wii

Anyone got a theory behind why it was created in the 1st place? I actually wrote a piece about this and to me it had to something to do with ROMs on the internet. I think Nintendo saw it and eventually realized it wasn't going to go away anytime soon. I think it's a great idea personally and it also gives them an edge as far as marketing goes. It can help retrieve and possibly get some classic gamers involved and get the games. I know you have to pay for them but from that view, I could see why. Nintendo saw this as an opportunity to make some money off the ROM market. That's what I think anyway. I could be wrong on that but I think that's a pretty good theory. It probably is the most obvious one. Do you think that's the reason behind it or the main one for that matter? For that matter, was it smart in your opinion for Nintendo to go with this as a feature for the Wii? Any thoughts on that?

I really do love my Nitendo Wii, i think the fact that features something that actually seems to get the kids more active and involved in the game is great. Also, it does help that it seems that alot of the games that come out for the system, actually have really great quality to them. Which, is kinda surprising to me because my first assumption was that the games were gonna be kinda..blehh...and that the main selling point would be the sensor remote. Obviously, there is one concern i always have with the system around my kids, is that they tend to get a little "too invovled" and i fear for the life of my 70" HDTV. hehe ;)

Well that is some of it. Plus you've got to consider plenty of games on Nintendo, Super Nintendo and other older consoles are no longer around (or only rarely avaiable via amazon and ebay). Plenty of now adults would like to play these games again, especially after having to give up the old consoles or no longer having them in service. Other people missed getting these games and they'd like a second chance at being able to play them. Its also a good move for families since the NES and SNES games are easier for them to get into.
