If the Yankees trade Hughes for Santana it will be a mistake. The Yankees should have learned from past mistakes, trading young talent for veterans.

The idea of having Hughes and Chamerlain in the starting lineup for years to come makes me so happy. I don't want to see him go. However, I'm a bit torn on this. Santana is an amazing pitcher. He's proven, injury free and would be amazing in pinstripes. Also, the fact that Boston is after him scares me. The last place I want to see Santana end up is with the Red Sox. Is trading Hughes for him worth not letting the Red Sox get him and then completely dominating the AL East. You think them winning the WS twice is four years would be close to the end, but this is just the beginning for the Red Sox if it happened.

I agree I would hate to see Santana go to the Red Sox also, but they would have to give up a lot also. I see your point Santana is good, but the Yankees have been burned before when trading young talent.

But trading for guys who are old and way past their prime. Santana is still great.

I think that's always going to be the Yankees thing. They won't be known too much for developing young talent, they just trade them away. Seems to be their method of thinking as of late. We'll see what happens if it goes through or not. It probably will most likely but we'll have to see for sure. For all we know, he may not go to the Yankees.
