Digital versus basic cable

What is your opinion on digital television versus basic cable? Our local cable company is switching all channels except for the locals to digital cable beginning Jan 2008. Fortunately for me I just signed up for a package deal that included digital so I won't be involved in the rush of people trying to switch over all at once. I did find this surprising though. Really, all of the channels that are going to stay with basic you can get with an antenna, so there is no need to pay the $45 for basic cable. On the other hand, I have only had the digital package for a couple of weeks and have already had problems with it. I hope this isn't the future. If so, I might as well go with satelite. Now I wonder when satelite television will be providing high speed internet so that I can have it all in one package. Hopefully a year from now when my deal with cable expires.

After a few years of digital cable I finally switched to the Dish which I'm finding is 100% better! I hated that digital junk because everything would get scrambled while I was watching it and really pissed me off. I had the tech's out here supposedly fixing things all the time but nothing ever made it better. As far as I'm concerned digital cable is not 100% perfected. I am sooooo happy with my dish.
