Do you know very much about the Peace Corp?

I was just wondering about the Peace Corp. I have never known anyone to join. Is this just like any other armed forces branch or is it totally different? Do you know anyone who has ever joined? Do they do mostly volunteer work and are in safer environments than that of the military? I was just curious.

I haven't heard much about the peace corp lately. It was started when John F Kennedy was a senator. It was a way for young people to get some life experiences as well as help out backward countries. These young people would go to a country that had very poor people and teach them things like how to grow more nutritious foods and money crops. It was a case of giving people a hand up. It had nothing to do with armed forces. it is still in existance today. You can learn more here
