Have you done something bad to your family memeber and you regret it

I once didn't tell the whole truth to something I know about another family member. That was real bad they told me that not telling the truth is lying and lying even to protect another is bad. I regret it and tried and still trying to help others out without hurting or not telling the truth to them... confusing but you get the idea...what is your take on this subject?
