Why do people lie?

Sometimes it is necessary to lie for example to spare someone hurt or to hurt their feelings, rather than be brutally honest it is sometimes easier to lie to keep the peace, because the person maybe sensitive or will not want to hear the truth. The old saying is true TRUTH hurts! So what price a little lie to keep the peace to not upset people. When you are in an abusive relationship sometimes lies save you from a beating or more mental abusive, I know because I have had to lie in the past, if I didn't well it doesn't bare thinking about, consequences!

Most of the time people lie to avoid taking responsibility for what they have done. Some people lie to save others feelings. Some people lie to impress others. Some people lie for attention. Some people lie just to be lying.

Usually is to protect themselves or others from trouble ,but an the end the truth always comes out.

It could be due to quite a number of reasons : 1)A person has become habituated to telling lies and most of the times he just finds it difficult to speak the truth. 2)Threat from someone If that person speaks the truth -especially in COurt cases. 3)Fear of getting ridiculed,scolded,criticized or in some severe cases beaten If Truth is spoken.
