On January 1, 2008... i will be officially out of work... well, it's a bad way to start the year but that is something out of my control... i started a discussion on the reason why but i do not want to dwell into that... So instead of sulking... i decided to make the best out of this situation... i will as early as now... i will scout for possible job opportunities and file my application as early as the first week of January... now to make it more interesting i want to make the process of job hunting fun... but how? Most of us who have done this job hunting thing would remember the stress, pressure, agony of defeat, etc... etc... etc... but there is also the learning experience that comes with it... so with every job application, interview, processing that i will undergo... i will treat it as a fun learning experience... I hope it will work...

Hello aseretdd, I am sad to hear your story and feel sorry for that. Yeah, I think you should start job hunting by now. It won't be easy. I know that. When I just started, it was very pressure and stressful when you went to an interview and didn't make it. But after 15 years of working in different companies and attended so many job interviews, it is just like a normal routine of life for me. I would go for the interview with confidence; never care whether I get the job or not. I just try my best. If I don't get it, it is just another part of my life. If I get the job, it is a bonus for my hard work. Good luck to you!

Don't feel sad about it... i consider this part of my life as a challenge and a learning experience... job interviews can make me a little jittery but it is also a chance for me to put on make-up, fix my hair, wear nice business clothes, and show that best that i can be... thanks for the positive response...

Hello aseretdd, It is good to hear that you are very positive about your future. Face it bravely and you must know that all the difficulties and problems will go one day. We just don't know when it will happen but trust me, you will get over it. Good luck to you and hope the New Year 2008 will bring good to you and the family. By the way, how is your husband doing now? Thanks for the BR, friend!

I got depressed when i was told that i will be losing my job... but when the reality of everything settled in... i decided to just put everything into a different perspective... i believe there is a reason for everything... and losing the job that i have now will lead me into something a lot better... And i thing things will turn out right for you too if you just continue being patient... Goodluck!!!

Job hunting is not fun at all.... it's expensive (when you should be saving money) and sometimes stressful (when you meet hostile employers)... But then, anyway, sometimes it is also fun or just the excitement of finding a better and more enriching environment is all worth the effort.

Oh I definitely know about losing jobs due to layoff and stuff b/c right now, I am laid off again...I have had 3 jobs that have lasted all of 18 months total in the last 2 1/2 years! It's a struggle contantly for me. I try to keep a positive attitude while being in this phase of my life. My problem that always drags me down a bit is that, for many years prior, I've had jobs that were very long standing. Prior to having this drought, I worked places for 15 and 8 years..Now, I'm lucky to locate anything that even resembles something permanent...it's discouraging but am now trying to do the video resume and see how that works for me. I am almost 50 years old and most places these days want cheap labor who won't be requiring lots of benefits..My age is a hampering addition and I think that it hurts my chances in some jobs. I am a Mechanical Designer who, for the most part, have located work, but I get tired of always searching and ending up with a 3-6 month job...Just try and keep the attitude positive b/c, if not, it'll hurt your ability to get anything..I found that out last year when I slipped into a depression over this endless search...So, just keep the chin up and keep trying is all I can say...Try networking with friends or relatives and see if anything turns up that way. I just worked for my brother-in-law for 6 months and even though I knew it was temporary and I would be laid off, it still helped me a lot b/c I got experience in another type of business...hey, the more areas you have experience in, the more valuable you'll be.

You are having a much tougher time than i am... the main reason why i have been jumping from one job to another is because i wanted something that will enable be to spend mor time with my baby... and that is why my current job is perfect... but then... all good thing never last... and now i need to find another job that would give me the same previledge as the one that i am abou to lose... I hope you get a permanent job....Good luck to us...

As sulking will not help at all and is rather punishing not only to yourself but also to your loved ones, that was a smart choice to understand that you are not responsible for something out of your control. Fun? That is a wonderful goal. Personally, I'd have a bit of a hard time pulling that off every day, but you know it is often true that one has to get rid of something old sometimes to get something new and better. I hope it will work for you too, and that you find a better job soon, hopefully before the old one gos away. If not, hang in there!
