How Much Do You Hate The Walmart Company?

Both as a customer and as a former employee, I have learned to hate Walmart as a company.
As an employee, you are told to"have a ten foot attitude" Greet EVERY customer with a smile when they come within ten feet of you. THEN, they yell at you for not doing your work because you were helping customers. Or they don't hire the right people and you are off doing someone else's job and you can't go home at the end of your shift because you did not get your work done.
As a customer, they ignore you. Ten foot attitude my buttoxx. Next time you are in a Walmart Store, say hello to EVERY employee you come within ten feet of. I gaurantee you you will scare the hell out of some of them. Pay close attention to how many management member you pass that do not even make eye contact.
To Walmart management, the customer is nothing more than a walking checkbook or wallet. All they care about is the bottom line. Good example... They pay their employees a wage that puts most of them at or below the poverty line. Then, they don't even let them get the employee's discount (a huge 10%) of grocery items. The food they NEED to live on.
Unfortunately, they DO have low prices. ANd they DO have almost anything anyone needs. So, like the rest of the world, I will continue to shop at"the big blue monster". But I know I cannot be alone in hating what is becoming the death of american retail and the strangulation of the american family.

I was going to start a discussion and I may start a more general one still, but I feel you!!!! I am a current employee and must say Wal-Mart is definitely grating and makes me think a lot less of the country altogether. Wal-mart is part of the American Dream! Now they allow you the ten percent off of certain produce, but who buys JUST produce to eat?? Also, they allow an associate discount online and some items aren't carried locally or at the same price, but still. 10% is only tax here in TN, which is at 9.5%. Luckily, I'm only a couple miles from KY. I think they should give us a better discount rate--screw all the special vacation packages and movie ticket discounts in MyBenefits that no regular associate can even dream of anyway. I break my back loading cases of water and dog food and old people's loot (cashier) and I get a stinkin' 10% discount on Dr. Scholl's and tylenol? I also believe the discount should apply to clearance. BUT WHO AM I? Thankfully the semester ends soon and I don't plan to take summer courses, so I'll have time for Convergys full-time training progam... :D and then I am outta Wal-Mart and I'll go to Aldis to shop for food and dollar stores for anything else.

The only thing i like about walmart is the walmart cheer in the front of the store.
I have to agree with you it is true about the employees and management I think it is shameful what they pay there peopel and how they treat them when they keep posting huge profits I try to shop the mom and pop places as well as Union places these are the places that made North America great.
