I have started learning to ty flies and lures. Recently I made a free style fly that I took White fishing by rod(some like to net them) and as soon as it hit the water WHAM! a fish hit it. It felt pretty good to bring in a fish on your own creation! nyone make their own tackle?

I just find it pretty cool to catch a fish on something you made your self....a double satisfaction thing :)

I used to wonder if my leaders would hold up as good as the store bought ones, but after catching a few big ones, its more excitement at having caught something on something I made than worry if it will hold.

I've made the lures many years. The salmon spoons and some kindes lures too. Generally, I paint it by airbrush

You should custom paint crankbaits, there is a good market for that kind of stuff http://www.RichLindgren.com

I do not make my own tackle, but I do a fair amount of customiziation and tweaking of lures before I use them in tournaments. http://bassinblog.richlindgren.com
