My son is 5 months old and teething. Does anyone know of a way I can get him to sleep thru the night?

Congratulations, as your son is becoming as old as he is teething. It is good news. But it is also tough days of your son as well as an examination period for you. When ever a child starts the teething he or she suffer in so many complications of his or her health. They cry with pain and itching in the gums. They face digestive problems and also suffer from fever. Children in such stage could not sleep well and they do not allow their mother to sleep well. You need sleep but your teething child does not allow you. Don’t worry. Time is going on and this time will also go to dip in the past and the time will come when you will enjoy the asleep well.

There are so many diffrent remedies for teething it is not funny. The thing is they all work but for a short amount of time. I always had to keep changing the method with all 4 of my kids. The other thing to remember is at that age not all babies sleep through the night. If you are nursing then often times they will wake to feed or even be changed. Even if you are bottle feeding they may wake up half way throught the night to eat or be changed. Honestly the best way for you to catch up on some well needed sleep is to catch some sleep when the baby is napping during the day or even ask someone you trust to take the baby for a couple hours so you can take a must needed nap.

To get your son to sleep thru the night you may have to shorten his naps during the daytime.

Darling, I wish I had some good advice for you. To my knowledge, out of my 6 (youngest 6months) I always got sleep during teething time. I thought the new baby would give me a run for my money, especially since it had been 6 years since I did the baby thing, but she did just fine. I'll try to ask some friends and family to see what to do, I wish I could offer some better advice.

I think at 5 months old its a little early for him to be compeltely sleeping through the night. The best advice I have is use a bassinet or a pack and play beside your bed so both you and HIM get more sleep!

You can also try a cold washcloth. We always stuck it in the freezer for about a minute so it would get really cold. We found that Ibueprofen worked better for our kids than tylenol. But each child is different. All the other tips are helpful too. We use the teething tablets and orajel to help. My one year old is cutting three teeth right now and we were having the same problem. Hope it gets better for you!!

You could try asking your pediatrician for some gum numbing ointment by precription, or going to your local store and picking up some that is OTC. Keep metal spoons in the freezer. When he starts crying, give him a frozen spoon to gum on. They work great. When I cut my wisdom teeth at age 15, I threw some spoons in the freezer and when they started hurting, I gnawed on a spoon to help the teeth break through and to quit the pain. Those teethinng tablets are great. They melt in the child's mouth and provide a numbing effect. Teething toys work great, too.
