I think this was very unfair. What do you think?

Yesterday the weather called for a big snow storm. I live 25 minutes away from my work and i have to take my 1 1/2 year old into town with me when i go to work So i called in to see if there was anyone i could call in to replace me. I was totally PO'd when my manager said. Winter hasn't even started yet and your already trying to get the day off. Can't you find anybody up there to watch the baby so that you don't have to bring him out in the storm. I coundn't believe it. Especially where i have worked there for 7 years and rarely ever asked for time off. I'm also the only one who has to find my own replacement for my vacation time. I find it so unfair. Anyone have an comments on my situation

Did the snow storm eventuate? I'm not sure that I sympathise entirely: if you normally take your child to work anyway, I presume you go in a car. What would be the difference taking him/her on a poor weather day? You also have to appreciate that when staff call in to say they can't come it puts pressure on the manager and other staff.
