What is the difference between night cream and what we use in the day?

Why is there a night cream to use at night and a regular cream to use in the day? Can there really be a difference? I have never read the ingredients but am going to make it a point later on tonight just out of curiosity!!
Does any one know if there even is a difference? Do you use a night cream and a cream for your face in the day? Why?

Actually there is a big difference between those two creams. One for the day is much more for protecting your skin against Sun, so the cream consist UVA, UVB filters. Night cream is much more for renegeration and nutrition since our skin relax in the night. Also the daily cream is for hydartation our skin and should be much more softer(lighter) then night cream. Yeah I am using both of then and also eye cream, what is really soft fine cream, because the skin around our eyes is very sensitive.

Night cream is thicker and more enriched with oils, it works well for night applications...daily cream is a lighter version and usually has some type of sun guard it it.it is lighter and soaks into the skin quicker and is best to wear under your daily makeup..I use a daytime cream or moisturizer under my makeup, with a sunscreen in it, and at night i use the night cream....I feel that night cream is too heavy and maybe to greasy for daytime use ...

I can't put anything on my face that is too oily because it will make me break out!

I can not use night creams, too heavy, too oily for me.
I use day cream for day and night, I can only use light creams or serums...

I have not found much difference in day creams and night creams, ctry. I think the premise is that the day creams do more to protect your skin from all the ravages of the day, while the night cream works gently to moisturize and condition your skin.

I'm sure you are right about that. This is something I just started thinking about after noticing I had a couple of night creams in my medicine cabinet.

Night creams have certain things like topical Vitamin C that if we wore it during the day, in the sun, our skin could have a spotty reaction. Also alot of the day creams have an SPF factor to protect us from sun damage. Yes I use a day cream, especially in the winter. Helps keep from getting dry skin, or patches of it in the cold windy weather.

I did know about the SPF but forgot about it but didn't realize the night cream had the Vitamin C. Live and learn and thanks for the info.

maybe during the day === it protects the skin from the uv rays which may darken or irritate ur skin.
maybe during the night === hmmm... dont know, maybe for further treatment. heheh...
