I am responding awhile ago regarding how to speed up or boost up computer's speed performance. I am not quite expert regarding this matter, but I want to share my knowledge and secrets on how to speed up the computer totally. Yes, it is true that you can speed up your machine thoroughly even though you only have 128 MB of SD-RAM. Usually, when there are a lot of softwares and applications installed in your machine, it may affect totally the speed of your computer especially if you don't have enough SD-RAM installed in your CPU in order for your applications to run smoothly incorporated with your real-time antivirus software. Therefore, we need to disable some of the services that are not useful anyway, which only contribute to the slowness of your machine. Here's how: This is effective in Windows XP Service Pack 2: 1. Click START. 2. Click RUN. A box will pop up, then type msconfig, then click OK. 3. In the System Configuration Utility, click STARTUP. Disable all except ctfmon. Usually, the icons that you will see in your system tray during startup, which is located in the right lower portion of your screen or desktop, contribute to the slowness of your machine. Therefore, we need to disable those icons, but you can retain the internet connection icon for connection purposes if you're using internet at work. 4. Afterwards, again, in the System Configuration Utility, click SERVICES. Disable all except: a. Windows Audio. b. Cryptographic Services. c. DCOM Server Process. d. DHCP Client. e. Logical Disk Manager. f. DNS Client. g. Event Log. h. Help & Support. i. Server. j. Workstation. k. TCP/IP Netbios Helper. l. Network Connections. m. Plug & Play. n. Remote Procedure Call. o. Windows Firewall. p. System Restore Service. q. Terminal Service. r. Windows Management. s. Wireless Zero Configuration. Again, all of the above-mentioned services should remain ENABLED. 5. Afterwards, click APPLY, click CLOSE, then click RESTART. Doing this strategy will boost your computer's overall speed performance. Rest assured that doing this strategy would not, in any way, affect or cause some problem in your machine. I have done this in my own computer and I'm so satisfied and grateful with my computer's speed performance. If you wish to go back in your previous default setting, you can go back to System Configuration Utility by performing the aformentioned procedure which is at number 1 and 2. In General, select NORMAL STARTUP, then that's it. Hope this would help to you in any way. Please let me know if you have any problems regarding the procedure. I am very willing to help you. Take care and God bless.:-)

Regular configurations is a must towards speed. Or rearranging file through file system can succeed. Any update can help due to heavy file update. If broadband under terrific speed with download is it harmful to hardware/pc. Kindly give notes . With wishes.

wow! i'm going to try this method for my computer is slow and i've seen that your explanation could be the result of its slowness. does one have to uninstall the programmes that necessitate the slownes and follow the steps? This is a benevolent sharing of human resource. good. thanks

Thanks fredgame. I greatly appreciate your enthusiasm. There is no need to uninstall programs when doing these steps. All you need to do is to disable some of the services that used a lot of memory, which is one of the main causes why your computer slows down tremendously. But uninstalling unnecessary applications would also greatly enhance the speed of your computer as well.:-)
